Stan Sperlak works with pastel in the fields, marshes and waterways of South Jersey. A nationally recognized teacher, Stan pushes and manipulates pastel in ways that take them beyond the normal boundaries of the medium. He uses handmade pastels on various papers with water, alcohol and multiple glazed layers to create very interesting surfaces. These paintings are to be seen in person to fully appreciate how he captures the true light of South Jersey.
Sperlak studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and is a juried member of the Pastel Society of America, and a Signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society. He is a long time Member of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters.
