Artist Bio

Frank Smith was born in Philadelphia and attended Drexel University completing bachelors and masters degrees. Upon graduation from Drexel he and his wife spent two years in Cali, Colombia as Peace Corps Volunteers. He later received an MBA from New York University, the Stern School. Upon returning to the United States he began a thirty-year corporate career in international business. Recently retired, he began this new venture by taking intensive courses at the Santa Fe Workshops in New Mexico. He has studied with photographers Jay Maisel, Eddie Soloway, John Weiss, Arthur Myerson, Jack Dykinga, and Steve Northrup. "I strive to create simple and elegant images . . . I think I've made progress on the 'simple', the 'elegant' may require a lifetime." Frank's work has been published in Rangefinder Magazine, and recently selected by New Mexico Magazine. He has won several awards for his work. He was one of four artists whose work was chosen for the Himmelfarb Gallery of the Tai Sophia Institute during 2009. He has exhibits scheduled for Ocean City, New Jersey and Baltimore, Maryland in 2009/10'.
